NIXSYS could very well be your next choice for a certified hardware
vendor in open source. In addition to our own rigorous quality assurance
tests, we aim to take quality a step further.
Red Hat/CentOS
Industry leaders including Dell, Fujitsu Siemens, HP, IBM, and
others have certified their hardware with Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
As a result, their customers have the confidence of knowing these
certified hardware systems are supported by Red Hat when running
Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
CentOS is an Enterprise-class Linux Distribution derived from sources
freely provided to the public by a prominent North American Enterprise
Linux vendor. CentOS conforms fully with the upstream vendors redistribution
policy and aims to be 100% binary compatible with Red Hat Enterprise
Linux. (CentOS mainly changes packages to remove upstream vendor
branding and artwork.)
So what does all of this mean to our clients? it mean we will offer
hardware that is 100% compatible with RHEL.
Ubuntu
An official endorsement by the Ubuntu project of a computer hardware
product, backed by a validation and testing process conducted by
Canonical to ensure compatibility with Ubuntu.
Hardware is certified for two consecutive releases of Ubuntu, and
Canonical provides an assurance against regressions in support for
specific hardware features. This means that any hardware which passed
certification for a specific release of Ubuntu will also be guaranteed
to be certified on the subsequent release of Ubuntu.
Mandriva
The Mandriva Linux Supported Hardware database contains information
about hardware devices that have been tested and/or have been reported
to function properly with Mandriva Linux.
Solaris/Open Solaris
The Solaris Operating Systemsupported on over 900 x86 and
SPARC platformsdelivers the performance, stability and security
your users and customers demand. With more applications available
than for any other open operating system, one OS can span your entire
enterprise: the Web tier, the data warehouse, and the most demanding
technical compute applications.
The OpenSolaris project is an open source community and a place
for collaboration and conversation around OpenSolaris technology.
The community represents a wide variety of people around the world,
including developers adding functionality to the system or customizing
the technology for new applications and platforms; system administrators
implementing Solaris technology in data centers; educators and students
researching operating systems in universities; and new users exploring
the technology and discovering that OpenSolaris offers new opportunities.
PC-BSD
PC-BSD has as its goal to be an easy to install and use desktop
OS, which is built on the FreeBSD® operating system. To accomplish
this, it currently has a graphical installation, which will enable
even UNIX novices to easily install and get up and running. The
system comes loaded with the K Desktop Environment (KDE),
which lets users immediately sit down to a familiar interface. Also
developed exclusively for PC-BSD is the PBI system, which lets users
download and install their applications in a self-extracting &
installing format, similar to InstallShield® on Windows®.
